Allan Simonsen - Danish star, Allan is respected throughout racing as a supremely talented driver who looks after the car, ensuring he regularly finishes races. He has consistently performed at the highest level in karts, track cars and rallying. He joins Gigawave MotorSport as the reigning Australian GT Champion, and has won races in the British GT Championship, the FIA GT3 Championship and took 3rd in class at the 2007 24 Heures du Mans.
Philipp Peter - 38 year old Austrian driver Philipp Peter has enjoyed the support of Red Bull as a personal sponsor for over 10 years and is a very accomplished and highly respected driver with a distinguished career in FIA GT since 2001. A past Audi factory driver in LMP1, he has numerous poles positions and victories to his name in FIA GT and in a wide range of top ranking championships including Indy Lights, Formula 3 and the Endurance Touring Car Series.
Team history:
Gigawave MotorSport will be flying the flag for Britain in this season’s FIA GT Championship, as the only UK-based team in the GT1 class. Aston Martin’s new Vantage GT2 will also be raced by Gigawave MotorSport in the 2008 Championship, and it will be the only Aston Martin in the GT2 class. The decision to race a second Aston Martin shows just how determined Gigawave MotorSport is to succeed, and the faith that they have in Aston Martin. After a ‘shakedown’ race at Zolder, in the last round of 2007, a busy pre-season testing period is now planned for the new team with both cars, prior to the start of the 2008 Championship.
